Saratoga Soapstone

Even though soapstone is not known for its high abrasion or scratch-resistance, it has been used as a countertop material for many years. In fact, the softness allows soapstone to actually be sanded by woodworking sandpapers and abrasion materials and/or techniques to finish or alter its surface.  Another testament to soapstone’s durability is the fact that its traditional use was the laboratory table-top in chemistry labs due to its high resistance to moisture and chemical damage.
